It’s official: College of DuPage’s campus tobacco free

Effective Aug. 6, the campus of College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn is tobacco free. About 850 colleges and universities nationwide have tobacco-free policies, according to a COD press release.
“Tobacco-free policies are gaining momentum at educational institutions across the country, and we are very pleased to be on-trend with this issue,” College of DuPage President Dr. Robert L. Breuder said. “An overall ban on tobacco means a healthier, cleaner and more attractive environment for everyone who visits our campus.”
The Tobacco Free Policy College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn prohibits the use of tobacco and tobacco-related products on all COD premises and in all College-owned vehicles.
The college is offering free smoking cessation courses this fall for students, staff and community members. In addition, COD will host a Tobacco Free Health Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 in its student services center atrium. The fair will provide tips for kicking the habit, guidelines for overall wellness and stress management, as well as information on health-based services available at the college and in the DuPage area.
