WILLOWBROOK — Willowbrook Corner Coalition and Burr Ridge Elementary District 180 teamed up Saturday to bring not only a whole lot of fun, but also a whole lot of information to students and their families.
“We have been working on it for months,” Wendy Williams, health aide at Burr Ridge Middle School, said of Fall Fest 2012.
Along with food, games, inflatables and a showcase of local talent, Fall Fest 2012 was a place for families to gather information about the many services available to them through the coalition.
“It’s an organization comprised of representatives from various agencies throughout DuPage County that provide services to residents of this area,” said Anne M. Jeans social worker and Fall Fest volunteer organizer Meghan Radtke.
Led by the Community House of Hinsdale, the Willowbrook Corner Coalition is a collaboration of organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of those who live in the Hinsdale Point, Hinsdale Lake Terrace and Waterfall Glen neighborhoods of unincorporated DuPage County.
Services available to residents of these communities include after-school activities, Saturday morning Kids Korner events, a mobile food pantry and summer camp.
Along with representatives from the coalition itself, area banks, businesses and organizations also provided information at the Saturday event.
Indian Prairie Public Library signed people up for library cards and representatives from Hinsdale South High School provided information about its tutoring services.
The DuPage County Health Department, DuPage County Sheriff’s Department, HCS Family Services, Peoples Resource Center and others also were represented.
