BURR RIDGE — After 23 years in business, Barcelona Creative Group was ready for a change.
They chose to make that change in Burr Ridge.
The marketing firm recently moved to a suite at 16W347 83rd Street that founder Tom Barcelona said provides just what his company was looking for.
“We needed a shot in the arm,” said Tom, who said the new location offers excellent access to clients, no matter where they are, as well as access to a whole new crop of potential customers.
“Most businesses in this area have probably never heard of us,” said Juli Barcelona, who serves as president and chief operating officer of her father’s firm.
Lucky for the Barcelonas, they know a thing or two about getting the word out.
“We’ve developed a new business strategy of our own,” Juli said.
That plan includes a new focus on developing ongoing branding campaigns for the company’s clients.
“We have kind of evolved,” said Juli, who joined the company 10 years ago after leaving a career in the finance field. Over the last decade she has been instrumental in guiding the company into the age of websites and social media.
When Tom started the company in 1990, cutting and pasting was done with X-acto knives and wax, not a mouse click.
“We do a lot of web development work for clients,” said Tom, who credits his daughter, as well as Production and Media Director Krista Hartman and Design Director Cary Wise, with helping his company prosper through technological changes as well as a recession.
As the company seeks to attract new clients, it also hangs on to those it has had since Barcelona Creative Group began.
“We have retained those clients,” said Tom, who described his company’s client base as diverse. Along with banks and insurance companies, the firm also lists a bakery and a heating and plumbing business among its loyal customers.
“We have several family-owned businesses as clients,” Tom said.
“We understand what they go through,” Juli said.
