UNINCORPORATED WILLOWBROOK — Family, friends and neighbors of Joshua Holmes will gather to remember the slain teen-ager at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
A prayer vigil is planned at the spot where Holmes, 18, was gunned down on Monday, on Honeysuckle Rose Drive near Lilac Lane in unincorporated Willowbrook.
Residents of the Hinsdale Lake Terrace apartment complex expressed shock and concern over the shooting, which was witnessed by many in what neighbors have described as a close-knit community where “everybody knows everybody.”
Holmes was walking near his home at about 6:30 p.m. Monday when a white four-door car approached. According to witnesses, someone fired from the car, hitting Holmes, who died a short time later. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office at (630) 407-2400.
