BURR RIDGE — The Burr Ridge Village Board will consider an ordinance Monday that would allow residents to raise chickens in backyard coops.
The Plan Commission agreed Monday to pass the proposed ordinance on to the Village Board for final approval.
If approved the new law would allow owners of properties larger than 1 acre to own as many as four chickens for personal use. Coops must be enclosed and kept in the back yard, no closer than 10 feet from the rear lot line. No roosters will be allowed.
Village trustees will consider the ordinance at its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Burr Ridge Village Hall, 7600 County Line Road.
