More than 400 guests turned out on Dec. 8 at Global Luxury Imports in Burr Ridge to fight hunger and gain an autograph in the process.
Chicago Blackhawks players Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa, Ben Eager, Daniel Carcillo and David Bolland greeted fans who had brought food donations to the Sultan and Sakeba Issa Family Foundation’s annual food drive for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
The two-hour event netted 13,000 pounds of food and raised $18,000, which represents 9,500 meals served to Chicago area families.
The second annual food and fundraiser realized a 30 percent increase over 2011’s drive.
Among the 400 guests was Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.
Tony Priolo and the Piccolo Sogno team donated food and served champagne to guests as they perused the collection of luxury and exotic cars and waited for autographs from the Blackhawks players.
