The cold weather was no match for the hot and tropical atmosphere at the Pillars Ball, Greetings from Havana, on Jan. 26 at The Abbington in Glen Ellyn.
More than 500 people attended the Caribbean-themed event, which included cocktails, dinner, a live and silent auction as well as the popular casino-style gaming tables. Guests hit the dance floor to the beat of Grammy-nominated Angel Melendez and the 911 Mambo Orchestra.
A special video presentation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTTD0XYJya8&feature=youtu.be from a Pillars client put a face on the many services Pillars provides, including the Constance Morris shelter for abused women and children. To view that video.
The gala is the largest fundraising event for Pillars and this year proceeds came in at a whopping $205,000, which will be used to benefit Pillars services to local residents, including health, social services and education.
