Bands to battle it out at Hinsdale South Jan. 31

DARIEN — The third annual Battle of the Bands at Hinsdale South High School is expected to be the biggest yet.

“It’s really catching some fire,” said Brian Ormiston, Hinsdale South Foundation president and organizer of the event.

Five or more bands with members from South will battle for prizes beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in the school cafeteria, 7401 S. Clarendon Hills Road.

“School of Rock is our major sponsor,” said Ormiston.

The Hinsdale business, with corporate headquarters in Burr Ridge, will provide judges and prizes. Winning groups will win coaching and lessons from the rock and roll experts at School of Rock.

Ormiston said the audience can expect to hear a variety of musical styles, including pop, rock and rap. Admission is $2 at the door and pizza and soda will be available.
