BURR RIDGE

Police Friday took into custody a 20-year-old who was found in possession of a stolen firearm, a loaded shotgun, more than 900 round of ammunition of various caliber and a bullet-proof vest.

Daniel R. Swayka, whose last known address was 16W236 94th St., Burr Ridge, turned himself into police on a $100,000 warrant, but was able to post the 10 percent bond and was released. His first court date is March 11 at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton.

The firearm he possessed was allegedly stolen from a Burr Ridge home on Sept. 27, 2012.

Police obtained a search warrant Feb. 8 and searched Swayka’s home, finding the shotgun, ammunition and a small amount of marijuana. No one was at home at the time of the search.

Swayka faces charges of possession of stolen property value over $500, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm without a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, unlawful possession of firearm ammunition without a valid FOID card, and possession of marijuana.~.
