2014 has started off with a bang, a bang of bitter cold weather that is. But cold weather doesn’t mean you can’t still be fashionable! You can still be in style and stay warm.
Scarves, hats and gloves. They are essential to survive this winter, but most women don’t know how to wear them. Does a scarf go inside your coat or outside? How do you properly wear a winter hat?
Let’s start with the popular infinity scarf as they are the simplest scarf to wear. Just put it over your head, cross it over in front of you and flip it back over your head again. That’s it! If you wear one that is tight around the neck, it can be worn on the inside or outside of your coat, depending on the coat’s collar.
What about long scarves? A friend of mine sent me a link to the best video about styling scarves. Search YouTube for Wendy’s Lookbook “25 Ways to Tie a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes.” It has amazing and easy to follow styles such as the Hidden Knot, the Braid and the One Loop. Wear these scarves on the outside of your coat to show off your scarf style!
As for hats, pull them down to the middle of the forehead, and of course, cover your ears. Don’t pull them over your eyebrows and don’t pull them back toward the top of your head. My favorite hats are the Beanie hats, which are tight around your head like a skull cap but have extra material that pops up on top. If you don’t want to mess up your hair, try an earband or head wrap. Just make sure it covers your ears and part of your forehead.
Stay warm and stylish!
