The Lyons Township High School Eurythmic Dance Company has been accepted into the National High School Dance Festival in April in Miami.

The selection committee watched 183 dance works but accepted only 74 entries. LT was awarded two spots: an excerpt from the book “Letter To My Daughter” by Maya Angeloua and a second dance choreographed by senior Olivia Tatum called “Rompiste Mi Corazon: Tore My Heart” by OONA. The group is directed by physical education and dance teacher Terry Wethington with help from assistant director Brittany Knicklebine, as well as teachers Brittany Sidoti and Anna Meyers-Caccitolo.

The festival will include a full day of auditions where students will vie for summer and college scholarships. A variety of classes and workshops in technique, improvisation, yoga, pilates, and more will enrich students’ knowledge of dance.

Dancers will have the opportunity to perform and dance with professional dancers and choreographers from across the nation.

Members include seniors Alyssa Smith from LaGrange Highlands, Ellen Stenner from LaGrange Park, Olivia Tatum from La Grange and Ana Vasan from Western Springs.

Junior members of the group are Emma Hughes, Virginia Schoder and Brittany Sneed form La Grange, Erin Mattucci from LaGrange Park and Sarah McDonough, Olivia Tisa and Aidan Van Nest from Western Springs.

Sophomore members are Catherine Lannan of La Grange and Moira McDermott and Madeline Schaeffer from Western Springs.
