Hungry diners and supporters of Lyons Township High School are wanted for the 16th Annual Pack the Place event to cheer on basketball teams Feb. 1 in La Grange.
Games are scheduled throughout the afternoon against York High School, beginning with the sophomore girls at 1:30 p.m., followed by the sophomore boys at 3 p.m. The varsity girls will play at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity boys will take on the Dukes of York at 6 p.m.
The LTHS Booster Club is sponsoring a barbecue dinner, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the north campus fieldhouse of the Vaughn Building, 100 S. Brainard Ave. Q-BBQ and The Hot Dog Company of La Grange are catering.
The boosters also are hosting a Split the Pot raffle, and the winner will be drawn at halftime of the last game. Tickets are $10 each, or $50 for six tickets. Purchase of a raffle ticket also allows one free admission.
Through the raffle and other fundraisers, the Booster Club provides financial support for academic, athletic and fine arts programs benefitting students. Grant requests funded by boosters over the years include more than $350,000 for scholarships to 254 seniors.
Boosters also have funded baseball and softball field dugouts, a concession stand and upgraded sound system at Bennett Field in Western Springs, as well as production equipment for LTTV, the school’s cable television and video program.
Boosters President Lou Kafkes said the club is seeking additional volunteers to assist with fundraisers. Details are at www.ltbooters.com. Board meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month during the school year in Room D-103 at the south campus, 4900 Willow Springs Road, Western Springs.
