Hinsdale/Burr Ridge Girl Scouts and their ‘guys’

The Girl Scouts aptly named their annual father-daughter dance when they called it the Snowflake Ball this winter.

More than 300 girls and their “guys” attended the event held Friday at Gower Middle School in Burr Ridge.

Each year a different school volunteers to host the evening for Girl Scouts and Daisies in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Hinsdale area.

“It’s a real popular event, when dads get to spend time with their daughters,” said parent Jill Graves, who helped the troop leaders organize the event. “Most of them are fathers, but there are uncles and . . . fiancés.”

Which may be why it’s called the “Me and My Guy Snowflake Ball.”

“The girls dress up and the guys are asked to wear a tie or a suit,” Graves said.

The evening includes music, a professional photographer to make a photo keepsake, crafts, a nachos buffet and ice cream sundaes.
