Hinsdale South senior Jorie Smith is a Hornet through and through, but she’s also busy as a bee.

Smith is a three-sport athlete at Hinsdale South, competing in golf, gymnastics and track and field, but her involvement doesn’t end there. She plays clarinet in the band and is a member of the Key Club and Yarning For a Cause. Outside of school, Smith is working toward her Gold Award in the Girl Scouts and also volunteers at an elementary school during the summer.

“I fully believe in being a well-rounded individual,” Smith said. “I feel doing all these sports and activities has helped me learn so many different things and made me a better person in general. It’s not about being the best in one sport or one activity. It’s the experience, learning new things, having a good time and meeting new people.”
