Hinsdale Central 63, Lyons 57, OT                                               

THE SKINNY  

In front of a raucous and energized crowd filled with students from both schools, Hinsdale Central survived 63-57 in overtime to gain the victory Saturday night against West Suburban Silver rival Lyons in LaGrange. The victory sets up a first-place showdown with York on Tuesday in Hinsdale.

TURNING POINT

Lyons’ Jimmy Cullen hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 53-53 with over two minutes left. Harrison Niego converted two free throws to give Lyons a 55-53 lead before Hinsdale Central’s Matt Rafferty sank a basket to tie it at 55-55. ​Hinsdale Central (18-6, 9-1) scored the first four points of the extra session on baskets by Chase Hamilton and Thomas Ives. The Lions missed their first four shots in overtime and did not score for almost three minutes.
