Boys basketball: Hinsdale Central senior brings toughness off the bench

Hinsdale Central senior forward Ian Bunting wears his hair like one of Toshiro Mifune’s characters in a Japanese samurai film, but Bunting has never heard of the Japanese actor.

However, Bunting does bring a warrior’s attitude to the court.

The Hinsdale resident has developed into a football-styled bruiser on the hardwood with a relentless style while chasing down rebounds. He leads the team in personal fouls (70), ahead of starting forward Grant Lillard (63). Bunting averages 4.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
