After Saturday’s state swimming and diving meet, Hinsdale South junior Jason Yang changed his mind about going out for the water polo team.

The team’s top swimmer tried water polo for the first time a year ago. Hinsdale South went 7-17 and finished last in the six-team West Suburban Conference.

Yang placed 28th in the 100-yard backstroke (53.56 seconds) at the state meet Friday at Evanston, an improvement from his 37th place last year.
