There were no capes but plenty of crusaders at the Museum of Science and Industry for the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago’s annual Heroes gala on Feb. 21.
More than 350 attendees turned out to raise critical funds for the non-profit which leads the fight to stop seizures, find a cure and overcome challenges created by epilepsy for the more than 130,000 individuals living with epilepsy in the Chicago area alone.
Honorees included Susan Axelrod, the founding chairman of Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy, who received 2014 Richard N. Rovner Hero Award; and Jack and Manjula Pfingston who were presented the Hero Award for Inspirational Commitment.
The event raised more than $160,000 for the foundation.
