Suburban students earn college honors

Alysa Paladino of Burr Ridge, earned dean’s list honors for the fall 2013 semester at Maryville University in St. Louis. Paladino is studying for a bachelor of fine arts in interior design degree.

Alicia Rodriguez, of La Grange was named to the dean’s list at St. Ambrose University for the fall semester 2013. Rodriguez is a graduate of Lyons Township High School.

Austin Lusson from La Grange, is a senior majoring in business administration-marketing. As seniors prepare to graduate, Lusson took advantage of an opportunity to do an internship at Group O. Taking advantage of powerful, real-world learning experiences are provided to students with a one-time grant of $2,000, thanks to Augie Choice, to offset the expenses of an internship, study abroad or research project.

From Countryside: Timothy Murphy, bachelor of science, information technology.

From Darien: Elizabeth Majerczyk, (summa cum laude); bachelor of science, elementary education; Brian Pociask, bachelor of arts, managerial communication; Laura Skiris, bachelor of arts, elementary education

From Indian Head Park: Michael Ryan, bachelor of arts, physical education; Michael Somone, bachelor of arts, special education

From LaGrange Park: Erica Means, bachelor of science, accounting

From Oak Brook: Demetra Drakes Del Fiacco, master of education, teacher leadership

From Oakbrook Terrace: Ashley Lyngaas, bachelor of science, biology

From Westchester: Agnieszka Bucko, master of business administration degree

Patrick Carney Foley, a Denison University student from Clarendon Hills is studying off campus for the spring 2014 semester. Foley, a member of the class of 2015, is studying with the College of Global Studies Program in Italy.

Thomas J. Logue of Hinsdale has been named to the University of St. Thomas 2013 fall semester dean’s list.

Afia Shareef of Willowbrook has been named to The Worcester, Massachusetts dean’s list at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services University for the fall 2013 semester. Shareef is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Lauren A. Moberg of Western Springs was named to the president’s list at Laboratory Institute of Merchandising College in New York City for the fall 2013 semester.

Daniel Ochoa of Clarendon Hills was named to the Milwaukee School of Engineering dean’s list for the 2013-14 winter quarter. Ochoa is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.

Anna Valcour of Burr Ridge appeared in Lawrence University’s recent production of Kurt Weill’s opera “Street Scene,” a day-long snapshot of life in a mean quarter of New York City. Valcour portrayed Greta Fiorentino. She is a 2009 graduate of Hinsdale South High School.

Baldwin Wallace University winter sports student-athlete Nathan Onchuck of Darien has been named to the 2013-2014 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. Onchuck is a sophomore, on the dean’s list. Onchuck, who earned Swimmer of the Week honors as a freshman, had a season-best time this winter of 22.10 seconds in the 50 free.

Jennifer Kayser of Hinsdale was named to the fall 2013 dean’s list at the University of Findlay, located in Findlay, Ohio.
