HINSDALE — Mundelein lost to Lyons in two boys gymnastics meets this season, but in the third meeting in three weeks between the teams, it was the Mustangs’ turn Friday night.

Senior Colin McCarthy won the all-around with a 54.10 score and took three individual events to propel Mundelein to its first win of the season over Lyons.

Mundelein (149.05) beat Lyons (147.05) at the fifth annual 10-team Krupicka Invitational.

“We had extra motivation,” Mundelein coach Jessie Piland said. “We needed a 144 or better to host our own sectional. That was our first goal. We’ve worked hard in the gym and cleaned up some things.”
