WESTERN SPRINGS — Baseball hitters are always fiddling while trying to break out of a slump.

Hinsdale Central senior shortstop Ryan Haff tried changing his grip on the bat. But he returned to his old form Monday just before hitting his first triple of the season, a two-run shot to center field in the fourth inning that landed on the warning track.

Haff went 3-for-4 and his triple helped secure the Red Devils’ 8-2 West Suburban Silver victory at Lyons. Hinsdale Central captured the three-game series 2-1.
