THE SKINNY

Oak Park-River Forest senior Katie Appell, a four-year member of the Huskies’ varsity, had beaten Lyons — until Wednesday night. Appell scored four goals and the Huskies dominated at home, rolling to a 7-2 victory.

TURNING POINT

OPRF jumped all over the Lions early on, racing out to a 5-0 lead. Genevieve Curry scored the first two goals, followed by goals from Mia Andreoli and Appell for a 4-0 halftime advantage. Appell notched another goal in the third before Lyons got on the board in the fourth quarter, when Haley Hughes scored with 5:16 to play.

THE STARS

Appell scored the final four goals for OPRF. JoJo Hale (17 saves) was brilliant in net for the Huskies, keeping her shutout intact until the fourth quarter. She stopped several one-on-one breakaway attempts.
