Fenwick’s Dan Dwyer commits to Penn to play Ivy League basketball

Early on during his senior season this past winter, Dan Dwyer was getting a little anxious about where his recruitment was headed. 

“I was definitely frustrated,” says the Fenwick big man of the lack of early interest. “I knew I had the potential to play at the level I wanted to play at. I relaxed and trusted something positive would happen.”

After putting together a strong second half of the season, Dwyer did begin to attract the interest of college coaches. He flourished under first-year coach Rick Malnati, becoming more active and a better offensive player, continuing to show an ability to step out and knock down face-up jumpers.

And something positive did happen on the recruiting front. The strides Dwyer made paid off as the 6-8 senior committed to Penn and head coach Jerome Allen on Monday afternoon.

“I was pretty pumped when Penn was one of the schools that got involved,” says Dwyer.
