Girls have the added fun, and pressure, of not only picking out dresses, but also deciding on hair and makeup.
Freelance makeup artist Angela Goss of Clarendon Hills has done plenty of prom makeup in her time. “This year it’s about smokey, bold eyes and big lashes, which help put focus on the eyes.”
She specializes in semi-permanent eyelash extensions, which stay on longer and offer a more natural look. Grays and browns help achieve that bold, smokey eye look.
“To offset the bold eye, do a nude lip,” she recommended.
Peggy Adducci, independent hair stylist at Olivia Jean in Western Springs, had a few recommendations for perfect prom hair styles. “Choose a loose casual up-do, which can be adorned with ribbon that matches your dress color, and will make your up-do style look different from everyone else’s.”
For something more elaborate, try a multi texture up-do with small braids, large braids and various curl sizes.
She also suggested the half up-half down style for someone who wants their hair down but out of the way. It works particularly well for someone wearing a strapless dress. Add some flowers for a fun touch.
