Sex offender charged with theft
PARK RIDGE, April 15 — A 47-year-old Chicago man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole four packages of razor blades, valued at $122, and a turkey sandwich from Mariano’s, 1900 S. Cumberland Ave., Park Ridge. Richard Alvarez, of the 2500 block of North Sawyer Avenue, Chicago, was also charged with violating the state’s sex offender registration law by failing to register when required, police said. Alvarez remained in Cook County Jail. His next court date is May 7.

WESTCHESTER, April 9 — Someone stole shingles from the roof of a home on the 1500 block of Garner Road, the owner reported at 9:17 a.m. April 15.

BUFFALO GROVE, April 16 — A man soliciting customers for a hail-damage repair service knocked on the wrong door on the 600 block of Maple, where a resident called the cops. The officers found the man and asked to see his solicitor permit; he said he applied for one, but had not yet received it. The officers informed him that applying for a permit did not equal possessing a permit and sent him on his way.

FRANKLIN PARK, April 11 — A plane ticket, $1,000 and cellphone were reported stolen between about 2:30 p.m. April 11 from an employee locker at Life Fitness, 10601 Belmont Ave.
FRANKLIN PARK, April 6 — Ten tires were reported stolen at 7:27 p.m. April 6 from several semi-trucks at Pure Motors, 3231 Mannheim Road.

NORTHLAKE, April 16 — A crowbar was reportedly thrown through the window of a Dodge van on the first block of Hayes at 3:33 p.m. April 16.
BURR RIDGE, April 11-14 — Someone drove a car through the grass behind the Pleasantdale School, at 7450 Wolf Road, knocking over a tether ball pole, sometime between April 11 and April 14.
