DOWNERS GROVE — Caitlyn Daly hit two home runs in the same inning Friday for No. 7 Downers Grove South, but that was just a portion of the fireworks the Mustangs launched against Hinsdale South.

Downers South won 27-0 in five innings on a day that featured a stiff wind that helped power the Mustangs’ seven home runs. Downers South nearly had eighth homer, but Zahrya McFarland’s RBI double in the first inning bounced off the top of the fence in center field.

Daly and teammate Melissa Orton belted two home runs each, with Daly’s first two homers of the season coming during a 12-run third inning when the Mustangs (16-1, 3-0 West Suburban Gold) had four home runs, rapped out nine hits and sent 15 batters to the plate.
