HINSDALE — Hinsdale Central junior Michael Lorenzini, who placed third at singles in last year’s state boys tennis tournament, left the high school team last week to play in U.S. Tennis Association tournaments this spring, according to Red Devils coach John Naisbitt.

“It’s a huge loss, but we will recover,” Naisbitt said. “We are very deep. It’s a huge loss because he is an enormous talent. It will be hard to replace a Michael Lorenzini, but we will carry on.”

Defending state champion Hinsdale Central won Saturday’s Kramer Invitational without Lorenzini. Ohio State-bound teammate Martin Joyce, who was playing No. 1 doubles with Chase Hamilton, was moved back to singles.
