Hinsdale South High School senior prom ‘a night to remember’

Hinsdale South High School students going to the senior prom Saturday started the event by checking in, posing for pictures and boarding buses at 5 p.m. at the high school.

A night of dinner and dancing at the Palmer House in Chicago was next, followed by a midnight cruise on Lake Michigan.

Buses returned the tired couples to Hinsdale South about 3 a.m. Sunday.

English teachers Sue Howard and Nicole Gallen are the faculty sponsors for the Class of 2014.

“(We) work with students for four years planning the event,” Gallen said. “The Hinsdale South Booster Club and specifically, the Post-Prom Committee, arrange the entire post-prom cruise.”

In all, 428 students, plus 40 administrators and chaperones attended the prom, which will be at the same location next year for the Class of 2015.

“The Palmer House is such a stunning venue that being in the room alone makes the evening feel so special and mature,” Gallen said.

“The Class of 2014 officers did a great job planning the menu, photo booth, and (disc jockey),” Gallen said. “It was great to see four years of planning come together. And as usual, we were so proud of our students for making it a wonderful night that they will all remember forever.”
