The Boy Scouts of America Des Plaines Valley Council has scheduled exiting recruitment events this spring throughout the western suburbs aimed at bringing youth and families into the scouting.

Boys entering first through sixth grades this fall can enjoy some spring fun at the events. Potential activities include learning about and trying some of the exciting and educational activities available such as archery, bottle rockets, rain gutter regatta, slingshots, and tents and knots.

The scheduled events include:

• May 4: Memorial Park, 132 E. Oak Ave., LaGrange Park, noon to 3 p.m.

• May 18: Twin Lakes Park, Corner of West 59th Street and Williams, Westmont, 1-3 p.m.

• June 1: Denning Park, 4903 S. Gilbert Ave., La Grange, noon to 2 p.m.

• June 1: Darien Community Park, 7100 Clarendon Hills Road, Darien, 1-3 p.m.

• June 8: First United Methodist Church, 100 W. Cossitt Ave., La Grange, (Call for Time)
