Spring into fun at Oakbrook Terrace celebration

You and your kids can enjoy four hours of exploration and fun at a Spring Celebration, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at Lake View Nature Center, 17W 063 Hodges Road, Oakbrook Terrace. There will be a bounce house, geocaching, paddle boats, a balloon artist, craft projects, archery and opportunities to see animals up close at this free event.

“We have some live animals coming from the Flying Fox Conservation Fund,” said Nature Center Manager Liane Knight. “We’ll also have the Critter Corral coming. They’re a guinea pig rescue organization.”

The Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, the DuPage County Historical Museum and the Villa Park Public Library will have activities for kids.

Families can take a self-guided nature hike.”It’s a scavenger-type hunt,” Knight explained. “The children receive a worksheet with pictures or words to guide them to look for certain things in the park.”

Popcorn will be sold for one dollar and lemonade for 50 cents.
