Boys tennis: Hinsdale Central rolls to a victory even without star player

Losing one of the top players in the state would be a significant blow to most teams.

Not so for Hinsdale Central, which has won the last two boys tennis state championships.

Michael Lorenzini, who finished third in state at singles last year decided to focus on USTA tournaments and left the team last month. But the beat goes on at Hinsdale Central.

With just two seniors in their top eight, the Red Devils completely dominated the Pitchford Invite Saturday at Hersey to claim the team title with 76 points to easily beat out Lake Forest (2nd, 50) and New Trier (48).
