Big fifth inning leads Fenwick softball team past Loyola

THE SKINNY

Down 2-0 in the fifth, the Fenwick softball team rallied for five runs in a two-out rally and went on to earn a nonconference victory Thursday evening against Loyola in River Forest. 

TURNING POINT

Senior Jenna Cairo started off the fifth for Fenwick (11-14) with a single and was moved over to third on consecutive bunts. After a walk, junior Valerie Perrelli hit a two-run double to left to tie the game. The next batter, senior Michelle Lang, drove in the go-ahead run with a single, and two batters after that, freshman Natalie Cairo hit a two-run double to cap the inning.
