HINSDALE — Sam Cottingham-Beard ended Hinsdale Central’s eight-game winning streak on Saturday.

The Oak Park-River Forest right-hander, who signed with Western Illinois before the baseball season, collected a 2-1 victory in the first game of a West Suburban Silver doubleheader. Cottingham-Beard allowed three hits, one walk and struck out 11 Red Devils.

Hinsdale Central scored its only run in the first inning when designated hitter Michael Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Trenton Barnett.

The Devils started a new streak with an 8-5 victory in the second game.
