With at least two Division I football prospects on the roster, Lyons has become a very busy place for college coaches during the spring evaluation period.

College recruiters started visiting high school campuses April 15 and that has kept Lions coach Kurt Weinberg busy with regular appointments. Weinberg, a physical education teacher at Lyons, has been meeting with coaches before and after school and during his 10:30 a.m. daily free period.

Recruiters are flocking to see two of the area’s top recruits for the Class of 2015 — running back Leonard Ross and quarterback Tom Fiedler. The 6-foot, 195-pound Ross already was presented a scholarship from Illinois in May, 2013, while the 6-3, 170-pound Fiedler is still waiting for his first offer.
