Four teens arrested following bus stop fight in La Grange

Three teens were treated for injuries and four teens were arrested following a fight May 9 at a school bus stop at 50th Street and 7th Avenue in La Grange.

Witnesses told police a group of boys appeared to be waiting for several teens to get off a bus from Lyons Township High School at 3:55 p.m. A fight broke out and three teens were injured. A 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both from La Grange were transported to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. A 14-year-old boy was treated on the scene.

Police took two boys into custody at the scene; another boy turned himself in later that night; and a fourth boy surrendered himself to police on May 12.

Two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy, all from Hodgkins, were charged with battery and mob action.

Another 16-year-old Hodgkins boy was charged with mob action and aggravated battery, because he allegedly used a metal pipe as a weapon in the fight, police investigator Matt Gill said.

One of the 16-year-old Hodgkins boys who was charged also was treated at the hospital for an injury.

It’s not known whether the Hodgkins boys are students at LT, Gill said.
