Volleyball: Lyons outlasts Hinsdale Central behind big night from Marko Kostich

THE SKINNY

Two games weren’t enough to determine a winner between Hinsdale Central and Lyons on Tuesday night. The two rivals went three long games and in the end the Lions were simply too tough, earning a 25-19, 28-30, 25-18 West Suburban Silver home win over the Red Devils.

TURNING POINT

Game 3 was tied at 13-13 when the tide turned in favor of Lyons (21-5, 3-2). Big kills by Marko Kostich and Michael Dean led to six straight points by the Lions and gave them control of the match for good.

THE STAR

Kostich, a Harvard-bound setter/hitter, came up with the clutch kills when his team needed them the most. He finished with 12 kills and also had 18 assists.
