Film Discussion: ‘Much Ado About Nothing,’ 7 p.m. Friday
Joss Whedon’s modern retelling of Shakespeare’s classic comedy about two pairs of lovers with different takes on romance and a way with words. The film was released in 2012. 37th Annual Western Springs Tower Trot, 8:30 a.m. Saturday
The 10K race, 6.2 miles, starts at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K race, 3.1 miles, starts at 9:30 a.m. Register at the recreation center or at www.signmeup.com/97808 through May 22. The registration form also is available at www.wsprings.com/recreation. All participants receive a race shirt, ChronoTrack time chip, number, goodie bag and raffle number. Suburban Garden Club Plant Sale, 8:30 a.m. Saturday
Garden club members will sell perennials, vegetables and interesting assorted plants. Members with great gardening experience can help you choose the right plants for you in your sunny or shady location and can offer gardening tips to help your plants grow bigger and better. Opening Day at the Lions Park Pool, 11:30 a.m. Saturday
The Clarendon Hills Park District’s Lions Park Pool will officially open for the 2014 season. The pool will remain open through Labor Day, offering a summer of fun in the sun for local families. Daily admission rates on opening day are $8 for residents of Clarendon Hills and $12 for residents of nearby communities.
