The manager of the Victoria’s Secret store in the Village Center shopping center reported two women stole nearly $1,400 worth bras at 5:10 p.m. May 22.

One of the women emptied four drawers of bras and put them in a shopping bag, which activated the security sensors when she left the store, at 570 Village Center Drive, Burr Ridge. Another customer followed her outside. Both women got in the back seat of a burgundy car, which was parked the wrong way on Village Center Drive, and then drove away.

Twenty-seven bras, of various sizes, costing a total of $1,388, were missing.

The woman who carried the bag was a black woman, who looked to be in her early 20s, with a short, stocky build and wearing jeans. Her companion was a tall, thin black woman, also in her early 20s, who was wearing zigzag leggings.

Bras also were stolen last month from the Victoria’s Secret store in Oakbrook Center. Three women were believed to be involved in that theft, which occurred in the morning, at 10:45 a.m. April 29. Twenty-four bras, which cost a total of $768, were reported stolen.

There were a series of similar thefts last year from Victoria’s Secret on Higgins Road in South Barrington.

Shoplifters lifted roughly $1,000 worth of bras on Dec. 6. A store employee told police a man and a woman entered the store and removed 15 to 20 bras from a display table.

The employee said the couple were similar in appearance to a man and woman who entered the store on Nov. 26 and Nov. 9, making off with a total of 72 bras valued at about $3,690.

According to a police report, the employee told officers that woman’s shopping bag, seen on a surveillance video, was similar to one she saw on the videos from the November incidents.
