North Shore Flea Celebrates ‘Mantiques,’ 11 a.m. June 7 A pre-Father’s Day show focusing on “mantiques,” antiques appealing to men. Highwood Recreation Center, 428 Green Bay Road, Highwood. $5 requested donation.
Donuts for Dad’s Day, 10:30 a.m. June 14 A morning of stories, songs and snacks to celebrate dads, grandpas, uncles and other favorite grownups. Vernon Area Public Library District, 300 Olde Half Day Road, Lincolnshire.
Take Dad to the Beach Ballpark Brunch, 9 a.m. Kids can dress in their favorite baseball team’s apparel and bring dad, grandpa or the entire family to Tower Road Beach for Father’s Day. The beach is transformed into a baseball stadium. The event includes eggs and flapjacks. Registration ends June 13. Tower Road Park, 899 Sheridan Road, Winnetka. $5-$20.
Father’s Day Workshop, 4 p.m. June 12 Build a travel mug to give to dad for Father’s Day. The program begins at 4 p.m. for kids ages 4 to 6 and 5 p.m. for ages 7 to 10. Dee Park, 9229 Emerson St., Des Plaines. $10.
Father’s Day Brunch, 10 a.m. Dad (and the whole family) can choose from hearty entrees or breakfast favorites, as well as desserts from the bakery. Daddy Olympics, 1 p.m. Hey dads, show off your skills at the pool on Father’s Day. Dads will jump through hoops, change their babies, and even play a little golf. Hinkley Pool, 25 Busse Highway, Park Ridge. Free with pool admission.
Father’s Day BBQ, 11 a.m. Celebrate Father’s Day at the arboretum with outdoor adventures and BBQ. The menu is available all day and includes ribs, salmon, burgers, hot dogs and more. Morton Arboretum, 4100 IL-53, Lisle.
Oak Park’s Great Food Truck Rally 2014, 1 p.m. Gourmet food trucks from around the Chicago area will once again converge on Oak Park for the Great Food Truck Rally. This year’s event will take place on Father’s Day, June 15, in the parking lot of Pilgrim Congregational Church. A wide range of savories, sweets and other dishes will be available all afternoon. Savory items will include empanadas, tacos, pasties, curries, jerk chicken, burgers, crepes, lettuce wraps and more. Dessert options will include cupcakes, whoopie pies, ice cream sandwiches, and Pilgrim’s famous Farmer’s Market donuts. Pilgrim Congregational Church, 460 Lake St., Oak Park. Free event.
Pancake Breakfast, 8:30 a.m. The church hosts a Father’s Day pancake breakfast with toppings, including blueberries, strawberries and bananas. Breakfast is followed by summer worship service at 9:30 a.m. Hinsdale United Methodist Church, 945 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale.
Dad’s Day at the Lions Park Pool, 1 p.m. There will be games and contests for dads to enjoy. Admission for dads is free for every child paying the daily admission fee. The daily entry fee for a child is $8 for residents of Clarendon Hills and $12 for non-residents. Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center, 315 W. Chicago Ave., Clarendon Hills.
Father’s Day Special Menu, 11 a.m. The pre-fix menu costs $39, plus tax and gratuity, and includes a three-course meal with entree options like grilled chicken, filet mignon and grilled Atlantic salmon.
