Rachael Dabkey | Submitted by the La Grange Public Library

This edition of Library Look brings us Rachael Dabkey, Youth Services associate at the La Grange Public Library. She was recently promoted from her current position to Youth Services librarian and will take her new position in July.

Q. How long have you been with the library?

A. I’ve been working at La Grange Public Library for almost two years now. It has gone by so quickly!

Q. What is your favorite part of working at the library?

A. I love helping patrons find their next book to read. Although, doing storytimes is something I really enjoy as well.

Q. What is something library users may not know about you?

A. I love Disney World! I’ve been over 10 times in the past 10 years. We even named one of our cats Mickey.

Q. What do you think is an underused feature of the library?

A. Definitely our electronic resources! There are so many things that you can access via the library without even stepping foot into the building.

Q. What is your favorite book and why?

A. I have a lot of favorites and my list keeps growing. Right now, I’m really loving John Green, so I’d have to say “The Fault In Our Stars.” I also really enjoyed “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio; it is such a touching story for kids to read. I also like reading “chick lit” so I love anything by Emily Giffin or Elin Hilderbrand.
