After an estimated 10,000 people attended the World Cup viewing party Monday, Chicago has decided to move Sunday’s watch party to a bigger location. The event will still take place at Grant Park but will move to Lower Hutchinson Field, the same site where the Blackhawks hosted their championship rally. Crain’s Chicago Business reports:
The U.S. Soccer Federation has adjusted its watch party plan for the U.S.-Portugal game in the wake of an overwhelming fan turnout for the U.S.-Ghana World Cup watch party at Arvey Field on June 16.
The group’s free outdoor watch party for the June 22 U.S.-Portugal game will now take place on Lower Hutchinson Field near Columbus Drive between Roosevelt Road and Balbo Avenue after an estimated 10,000 fans packed into the area just south of the larger Grant Park space.Brazil 2014, Chicago, Giving DuPage, World Cup
