Letter: Blaser offers bad advice to graduates

I hope no high school or college graduates, let alone journalism majors, read Randy Blaser’s column (“A message to the graduates of today,” June 12).

No doubt that Blaser’s newspaper industry went through a rapid and dramatic decline, however, the decline had nothing to do with the global economy. Blaser ignores all the positive opportunities that both the Internet and the global economy have brought to huge numbers of people. My message to graduates would be to stay in school, work hard, maintain a good attitude, network with people in your chosen field and keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities.

The cost of dropping out of school is high and probably getting higher.
