Hinsdale police say a 53-year-old Burbank woman fled her vehicle after being caught between gates on the BNSF railroad tracks at Lincoln Avenue this morning.

Police said the woman drove her 2004 Nissan Murano SUV after driving south on Lincoln passed the warning gates at 7:22 a.m., disobeying activated warning signals.

She then exited the vehicle to avoid being struck by an approaching westbound Metra train.

Nobody was reported injured in the collision, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Police say the incident remains under investigation.

Both Hinsdale police and fire personnel responded to the scene. The accident further delayed Metra BNSF trains, which were already behind schedule due to an overnight incident near Cicero Avenue that closed two of the three tracks at that location.
