Baseball: Illinois rewards Hinsdale Central’s Ryan Haff for patience

Ryan Haff’s dream was to play Division I college baseball, but the recent Hinsdale Central graduate needed a lot of patience to make that come true.

While many of his teammates and classmates made their college plans months ago, Haff remained in limbo after his high school career ended. Even after he graduated, he had to wait to see if he would have a college career.

The Hinsdale student was rewarded June 19 when he signed to play baseball at Illinois. Haff pledged seven months after Illini coach Dan Hartleb had signed the first three members of his Class of 2014, including Carmel pitcher Quinten Sefcik and Huntley catcher/outfielder Mark Skonieczny.
