Letter: We can take action on term limits by voting

Last week a Cook County judge declared the citizen lead initiative to establish term-limits for Illinois lawmakers unconstitutional. Although the term limits and reform group has announced it will appeal the decision, it remains to be seen whether the higher court will hear the case before the general election on Nov. 4, 2014.
Meanwhile, Springfield needs to be cleaned up. For that reason it is imperative for Illinois voters to remember that, notwithstanding the outcome of this litigation, we still have the ability to set terms limits by re-electing no one. By simply not voting for any incumbents, Illinois voters can establish term limits despite the court ruling. We have the power to clean up Springfield — let’s use it!
