Get to know the community of Western Springs with our Children’s Theatre of Western Springs Spotlight feature.

This week, we meet Savvy Miller. He’s going into the fourth grade at St. John of the Cross Parish School in Western Springs and has been taking classes at CTWS for three years.

Q. Why did you join CTWS?

A. Because I like to act!

Q. What made you discover your interest in theater?

A. My mom is an active member at The Theatre of Western Springs, before that she was a high school theatre teacher and studied theatre in college. I’ve been going to play since I was born. I was even at plays when I was in my mom’s stomach.

Q. What is your favorite thing about theater?

A.  I get to take fun classes and be someone other than myself.

Q. At CTWS, do you work on stage, behind the scenes, or both? Name some roles/crews that were your favorite.

A. I like to be on stage and backstage. I like to paint sets and when I’m old enough I want to design lights like my big brother, Joey, did.  I loved being in “Flat Stanley” and “Dear Edwina.” I was a Frankenguest in “Dear Edwina” and I got to be silly.

Q. What is your favorite thing about CTWS?

A. I like everything about CTWS. My teachers and classmates are really nice.

Q. Do you see yourself continuing to act?

A. Yes! It is a lot of fun.

Q. What do you want to be when you grow up?

A. I would like to be a doctor.

Q. What is your dream role?

A. I would like to be Oliver but am very excited to be in the class that will perform “Alexander and the Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” in March.
