The video below is of kids reacting to being shown how to use a Sony Walkman. Most of the children are dumbfounded by the outdated technology that only 35 years ago was considered groundbreaking.
The Walkman was first introduced for use with cassette tapes, another seemingly outdated technology (it should be noted that cassette tapes have recently made a “comeback” with an increase in sales of 46 percent from 2010 to 2011, according to the video).
Cassettes replaced 8-track tapes and the Walkman allowed people to listen to music on the go. Eventually the Discman would come out to play CDs.
Though iPods and MP3 technology would go on to make Walkmans obsolete, they remain a fond memory for anyone who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s.
