Golf: Hinsdale Central, Lyons golfers impress at Illinois State Junior Amateur

With help from his five-year-old TaylorMade putter, Brendan O’Reilly made history last week at the 45th Illinois State Junior Amateur.

He became the first golfer in tournament history to win back-to-back championships June 26 at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington.

The incoming Hinsdale Central sophomore held off recent Highland Park graduate Patrick Flavin and 142 other golfers to register a one-shot victory.
