Crime Briefs: 18 reports of illegal fireworks over Fourth of July

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the area police departments.

Burr Ridge

FIREWORKS

  • Police officers responded to 18 reports of fireworks between 8 p.m. July 3 and 11:50 p.m. July 5, but issued no citations for illegal possession of fireworks. Officers either did not see anyone shooting off fireworks when they arrived or they issued a warning to the person responsible.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A resident reported July 5 his social security number was linked to someone else’s name. He learned of the problem when his employer did a background check on him.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

  • Three mailboxes were knocked off their posts on the 1300 block of Laurie Lane the morning of July 4. One resident reported hearing the damage about 1:40 a.m. that morning.

THEFT

  • Someone stole a mailbox off its post on the 600 block of Gregford Road between 11 p.m. July 3 and 7 a.m. July 4.
