Baseball: Serbian duo visits Burr Ridge to play ‘America’s pastime’

When asked about the things they’ll remember most about their one-month visit to the United States, Serbian baseball players Danilo Cvijovic and Strahinja Stajic shot a quick answer: peanut butter and health clubs.

The two 17 year olds were scheduled to depart on Sunday after arriving in the U.S. June 6 to play baseball, watch baseball and fulfill a dream to visit the country where baseball began. The Serbian boys stayed in the Burr Ridge home of Alex and Nicole Bokich and their three children.

During the first two weeks, the Serbian players competed in three showcase events: the Chicago White Sox Silver and Black Games; a Prep Baseball Report showcase; and Area Code Games tryouts in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Over the past two weeks, they played for a Longshots 18U travel team, where for a few games Stajic pitched to Cvijovic.
